Minkah Makalani is Director for the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies and Associate Professor of African and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He is author of In the Cause of Freedom: Radical Black Internationalism from Harlem to London, 1917–1939 and coeditor of Escape from New York: The New Negro Renaissance beyond Harlem.
