Something worse than not
walking in a breeze on the same street
you walk on everyday with the dog
except the breeze is only some days
just two or three times even
goldfinches instead
of bees flitting in the “weedy field”
not humming but “rapid sputtering”
I’d rather queen anne’s lace than wide clouds
say finches flitting not bees winding
or no creatures at all
No, everything not in sequence is exception
you have to pull back from
even if you never see a goldfinch again
on a cloudless day with an intermittent breeze
for example piles of yellow feathers
instead of the comfort of immortal routine
a “complete molt”
