Our "Beat the Experts" 2008 election-forecast contest is closed.

We are no longer accepting entries electronically or by mail. We'll be tabulating incoming ballots postmarked no later than November 1st.

Note for the paper ballot: correct predictions earn the number of points in the black corner of entry boxes. Predictions that fall within a certain (indicated) range of the correct answer earn the number of points in the white corner. To predict a victory for a third-party candidate in congressional splits, do not count that candidate’s state or district in either the D or the R box.

For paper and electronic ballot: The winner will be the highest-scoring entrant who beats all four experts. In a tie, prize money will be divided evenly among winners. Experts made their predictions in August. Popular vote refers to two-party vote. This contest is only valid where permitted by law.
