Bellissimo on the Couch
Please close the door. A massive spoon with prongs clicks shut. No one is kept out. Hey, you're going to have to move. I go with The Wolfman, I talk to an old friend I've never met. Is it really worth it? "I've worked in nicer places, less stress, more money—" I've been gone too long— The Hoosier walks in, How's your penis? Ya Dirty Rat— What's the big idea, talking Thirties? You are a boy. I must manoeuvre myself into leaving words. Time to sleep. "Time to wake up." I am a weak boy with a disturbing vision. I must hide this.
Derek Webster edits Maisonneuve, an arts magazine debuting later this year. His poems are forthcoming in Bomb, The Antigonish Review, and The Nerve Anthology.
